Robot Vacuums For Carpet

A robot vacuum for carpet is only as good as its suction. Dust and pet hair settle deep in the pile, where a weak motor skims the top instead of pulling them out. Browse the collection below to match the right fit to your carpet.

Robot Vacuums for Carpet FAQ

What is the best robot vacuum for carpet?

The L40s Ultra suits low-pile carpet for daily cleaning. Pet homes on mid-pile carpet do better with the L60 Pro Ultra. Thick or high-pile carpet is where the Matrix10 Ultra provides the most thorough vacuum run.

Do robot vacuums actually work on carpet?

Yes, the good ones do. Many older robot vacuums run around 10,000 Pa, which is not enough to pull hair and dirt out of carpet. Our recommended Dreame models for carpets start at 19,000 Pa.

Will the robot mop get my carpet wet?

No, and you don't need to worry about this with Dreame. Every Dreame combo model detects carpet automatically and lifts the mop before it gets there, so your rugs stay dry every single run.

How much suction do I need for carpet?

Low-pile carpet works well at 19,000 Pa, while mid-pile rooms with pets need 25,000 Pa or above. A robot vacuum for thick carpet needs 30,000 to 35,000 Pa to clean deep into the fibers.

Can a robot vacuum handle thick or high-pile carpet?

Yes, with the right model. A robot vacuum for thick carpet needs at least 30,000 Pa and Intensive Carpet Cleaning mode, which slows down and covers each section twice for a genuinely deeper clean.

Does a robot vacuum work on area rugs?

Yes. The vacuum detects the rug, boosts suction, and lifts the mop so the surface stays dry. If your rug has loose fringe, a virtual no-go zone in the app keeps it safe.

How often should a robot vacuum run on carpet?

Daily if you have pets, or every two to three days otherwise. Running it daily stops hair and grit from working deeper into the fibers over time, which is what makes carpet look flat and worn.

Choose a Dreame Robot Vacuum for Carpet

The suction benchmarks and model picks above should make the right choice clearer. Browse the full range of Dreame robot vacuums and mops, or put a few models side by side with the comparison tool if you're still deciding between two.

Carpeted Homes a Dreame Robot Vacuum Is Built For

Low-pile bedroom carpet with a couple of area rugs only requires the simplest and most straightforward setup. In this scenario, a daily schedule with the L40s Ultra keeps shedding and everyday dust under control.

Homes where hard floors open into a carpeted living room are where auto-detection features come in handy. Dreame robot vacuum lifts its mop at the carpet edge, so you get a complete clean across both surfaces in one run without the carpet getting damp.

Thick or high-pile carpet requires more suction and deep cleaning capabilities. The X60 Max Ultra Complete has an Intensive Carpet Cleaning mode that slows the pass and covers each section twice. The Matrix10 Ultra runs the same mode and also detaches the mop entirely on high-pile rugs.

If your home is mostly carpet, the X60 Max Ultra Complete is the cleaner choice. If you have thick rugs alongside hard floors, the Matrix10 Ultra handles both without cross-contamination.

How to Choose a Robot Vacuum for Carpet

  1. Match suction to your pile depth

The deeper your carpet pile, the more suction you need to reach what's sitting at the base of the fibers. This table gives you a useful starting point:

Carpet type Suction to look for
Low pile, daily upkeep 19,000 Pa and up
Mid pile with pets 25,000 Pa and up
Thick or high pile 30,000 to 35,000 Pa

Anything below 15,000 Pa is better suited to hard floors and won't clean carpet reliably. If you have thick or high-pile carpet, the X60 Max Ultra Complete at 35,000 Pa is the strongest option in the collection.

  2. Check that the robot vacuum can physically move through your pile

Thick plush or shag carpet needs a robot vacuum that can both move through the pile and deliver strong suction. Look for a model with a lifting chassis (the X60 Max Ultra Complete and Matrix10 Ultra both raise their body on carpet) and Intensive Carpet Cleaning mode for a slower, double-pass clean on high-traffic areas. Low-loop or flat carpet is far less demanding and works well at lower suction.

  3. Consider the brush type, especially in a home with pets

Robot vacuums for pet hair equipped with only one bristle bar catches long hair and wraps around it, which slows the vacuum down. You'll also have to manually clean the brush more often. A dual rubber roller like the HyperStream™ Detangling DuoBrush redirects hair into the dustbin instead of wrapping around the brush, so it clears on its own.

  4. Get mop lift functionality if your home has mixed floors

If your hard floors and carpet share the same level, you want a robot vacuum that lifts its mop automatically when it reaches the carpet. Every Dreame combo model does this, so you never need to worry about a wet pad running over your rugs.
