LiDAR Robot Mower FAQ

What is a LiDAR robot mower?

A LiDAR robot mower maps your yard using a spinning laser sensor instead of relying on buried boundary wires or a satellite antenna. A Dreame LiDAR robot lawn mower combines this laser technology with binocular AI vision through its OmniSense™ 3.0 system, allowing it to create an accurate 3D map and mow your lawn accordingly.

Is LiDAR better than RTK for a robot mower?

Yes, especially for yards with obstacles. A satellite-based mower relies on a clear view of the sky, which means the signal can be lost under trees or next to tall fences. LiDAR lawn mowers directly sense their surroundings, allowing for steady navigation in shaded areas and tight spaces. RTK continues to perform well in wide-open lawns, so the best option depends on your specific yard conditions.

Does a LiDAR robot mower need wires or an antenna?

No. OmniSense™ 3.0 maps from the sensors on the mower itself, so there are no wires to bury and no RTK antenna to mount. You guide it around the lawn once in the Dreamehome app, or let AI auto-mapping set the boundary for you. After that first pass, it remembers the map for every session.

Do LiDAR robot mowers work at night and under trees?

Yes. LiDAR is an active laser, so it does not depend on daylight or a clear sky. The mower keeps mapping and navigating in full darkness and under a dense tree canopy, where satellite signal and camera-only systems struggle. It also recognizes small animals that wander out in the evening, steering around them and slowing down to give them time to move.

What yard size can a LiDAR robot mower manage?

Dreame LiDAR robot mowers can handle yards ranging from 1,000 m² (0.25 acres) to 5,000 m² (1.20 acres). The A3 AWD Series is ideal for smaller, simpler lawns, while the A3 AWD Pro Series is better suited for larger or more complex yards.

Are LiDAR robot mowers available in Canada?

Yes, and that includes Dreame. The A3 AWD 1000, A3 AWD 2000, and A3 AWD Pro 3500 ship to Canada. The A3 AWD Pro 2500 and A3 AWD Pro 5000 are available in the US only. Coverage and features are the same across every Dreame LiDAR robot mower.
